Berkeley Castle is perfect for a family day out. This stunning 12th century Norman Fortress is still the home of the Berkeley Family and has been transformed over the years into a beautiful home full of treasures. The Castle and Gardens are open from Easter until October and the Butterfly House is open from May-September. Have a fantastic fun-filled day out at Cattle Country Adventure Park. There is plenty to do both inside and out with large adventure play areas. Equipment includes big slides, soft play, trampolines, and a huge jumping pillow. A miniature train that takes you to visit various small animals in the Animal Encounters area. The Chantry, is the Grade II* Listed former home of world renowned scientist, Dr Edward Jenner (1749-1823). In 1796 from his elegant Queen Anne house, Jenner pioneered the first documented vaccination against smallpox, a landmark in modern science. His work has since saved millions of lives worldwide and was the precursor to modern vaccination. The Chantry became a heritage attraction in 1985. There are two display rings, dog shows and competitions, shooting, fishing, dog training, gardening and entertainment for all ages.
Over 400 hundred trade stands offering retail therapy to suit every taste and wallet. A Farmers Market with local producers and a super Native Breeds area – come and meet the animals.
The Fair’s ethos is to celebrate, conserve and promote the countryside, remaining one of the last non-commercial country fairs true to its roots. Our proceeds are given to charities and good causes relating to the countryside and local area.
