A message from our
Chairman 2009

With our country in the grip of recession and our countryside in danger of being swamped by more meaningless and costly bureaucratic rules and regulations, maintaining the land and protecting our heritage has become increasingly difficult. The months and years ahead will not be easy and I hope that you will all take time today to visit the many displays and stands within our Living Working Countryside area. Exhibitors will give you an insight into the complexity of rural life and the need to maintain a natural balance to ensure that the countryside remains viable. Our new Countryside Ring features traditional country sports and pursuits throughout the day.

I would like to thank the many hard working volunteers who have helped with today's Fair; too many to thank personally. Thank you all for coming and sharing in our celebration of all that's best in the British Countryside. We hope you've enjoyed it.
