The Gloucestershire Wildfowlers Association was formed in 1956 by a small group of local wildfowlers whose vision and foresight laid the foundations for what they now enjoy today. There have been many changes during the Association's history; most notable is the extent of shooting available to members The Association now lease or own over 26 miles of the upper Severn estuary, including both banks, 11 miles of which is currently laid down to conservation. The GWA has leased the right to shoot on Frampton Marshes since 1957.

The GWA has earned a reputation as being a forward thinking association that enjoys a high profile and is regarded as one of the top ten BASC affiliated wildfowling associations in the country.
